How Many Trips to India Do I Need for Dental Implants?
- Most Canada patients require just one trip of 7–10 days for full-arch dental implant treatment with immediate loading.
Some complex cases may benefit from a second brief visit (3–5 days) for definitive prosthesis delivery after 4–6 months.
Trip Requirements by Treatment Type
| Treatment | Trip 1 Duration | Trip 2 Needed? | Trip 2 Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| All-on-4 / All-on-6 (immediate load) | 7–10 days | Optional (for definitive prosthesis) | 3–5 days |
| Zygomatic implants | 10–14 days | Optional | 3–5 days |
| Teeth-in-a-Day | 7–10 days | Optional | 3–5 days |
| Single/multiple implants (immediate) | 5–7 days | Possible (for crowns) | 3–5 days |
| Single/multiple implants (delayed) | 3–5 days (placement) | Yes (for crowns) | 3–5 days |
| Veneers / Smile Design | 5–7 days | No | N/A |
| Full mouth crowns | 7–10 days | No | N/A |
| Overdentures | 7–10 days | No | N/A |
The One-Trip Protocol
At Stunning Dentistry, our standard protocol for full-arch rehabilitation is designed to maximise what's accomplished in a single trip:
Day 1: Arrive. Exam, CBCT, digital scan. Plan confirmed.
Day 2–3: Surgery. Implants placed. Same-day provisional teeth delivered.
Day 4–7: Recovery. Adjustments. Impression for definitive prosthesis.
Day 8–10: Final checks. Definitive prosthesis fitted (if staying 10–14 days) or travel clearance.
If you stay 10–14 days, we can deliver monolithic zirconia definitive prostheses during the same trip (fabricated in our in-house lab).

When a Second Trip Is Recommended
A second trip is beneficial (but not mandatory) when:
1. Definitive prosthesis after osseointegration: Some clinicians prefer to deliver the final prosthesis after 4–6 months of healing for optimal fit
2. Complex bone grafting: If major grafting is needed before implant placement (rare with our protocols)
3. Multiple treatment phases: e.g., implants first, orthodontics second

Combining Treatment with Tourism
Many patients extend their stay or their second trip to explore India:
- Delhi: Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate, Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk
- Agra: Taj Mahal (4 hours from Delhi by car or 2 hours by train)
- Jaipur: Pink City, Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal (5 hours from Delhi)
- Goa: Beaches and relaxation (2-hour flight from Delhi)

Why Us
Frequently Asked Questions
Can everything be done in one trip?
For most patients, yes. Full-arch implant treatment with immediate loading is completed in 7–10 days. Extending to 10–14 days allows definitive prosthesis delivery during the same trip.
What happens during the second trip?
A second trip (3–5 days) typically involves: removing the provisional prosthesis, fitting the definitive monolithic zirconia bridge, adjusting occlusion, and taking final photographs.
How far apart should the two trips be?
4–6 months. This allows complete osseointegration (implant-bone fusion) before definitive prosthesis delivery.
Can I avoid a second trip entirely?
Yes - by staying 10–14 days on your first trip, we can fabricate and deliver the definitive prosthesis before you leave. --- [Plan Your Trip →](/plan-your-trip/) | [Treatment Timeline Calculator →](/treatment-timeline-calculator/)
