Pre-Travel Checklist

Confirm written treatment plan and quote

Receive your itemised CAD treatment plan, sign and return. This locks in price, timeline, and surgical slot.

Pay deposit (25%)

Bank transfer or credit card. Confirms your booking. Patient coordinator sends payment confirmation.

Apply for Indian Medical e-Visa

Apply at indianvisaonline.gov.in (180-day single entry). Cost ~on request. Hospital authorisation letter from us is required — your coordinator emails it.

Book international flights

Sydney/Melbourne/Perth/Brisbane to Delhi (DEL). Direct preferred. on request return economy. Book early for better rates.

Request medical clearance from your GP (if needed)

Required for cardiac history, blood thinners, diabetes (HbA1c), autoimmune, immunosuppression, recent radiation/chemo, or pregnancy. We send the GP a clearance form template.

Update vaccinations

Tetanus, hep A, hep B, typhoid recommended. Consult your Canadian GP 4-6 weeks before travel. Yellow fever certificate required only if arriving from a yellow-fever country.

Begin smoking-cessation plan (if applicable)

Quit minimum 2 weeks pre-op; ideally 4 weeks. Smoking reduces implant success rates by 5-10%.

Confirm Indian visa is approved

Check email or visa portal. If issues, contact patient coordinator for support letter or expedited application.

Confirm flights and hotel

Patient coordinator handles hotel booking with partner discount. Confirm dates align with surgical slot and recovery window.

Schedule pre-travel hygiene cleaning

Book with your local Canadian hygienist within 4 weeks of travel. Reduces oral bacteria load before surgery.

Order travel insurance

Standard travel insurance for trip cancellation and unrelated medical emergencies. Note: most policies exclude elective dental treatment.

Confirm prescription medications you'll bring

30-day supply of any chronic medications. Original prescription label visible. Letter from GP if controlled substances. Patient coordinator advises on Indian customs limits.

Photograph your existing smile

Front, side, and laughing photos in good light — used for Digital Smile Design reference. Include any old photos of teeth you'd like to recreate.

Arrange airport pickup

Confirm with your patient coordinator. They share driver name, vehicle plate, and contact number 24 hours before arrival.

Pay pre-surgery balance (50%)

Bank transfer 14 days before arrival. Ensures funds clear before surgery date.

Confirm GP medical clearance is sent (if applicable)

Email or scan to your patient coordinator. Required for cardiac, blood-thinner, diabetes, or pregnancy cases.

Stop smoking (if not already)

Strongly recommended 2 weeks pre-op. Resume only after osseointegration check at month 4-6.

Avoid blood thinners (per GP advice)

If your GP has authorised stopping aspirin or anticoagulants pre-op: follow their timeline. Do not stop without explicit authorisation.

Begin soft-food planning

Stock your fridge for return — yogurt, smoothies, soup, mashed potato, eggs, soft pasta. Plan for first 1-2 weeks back home.

Print or save digital documents

Visa, flight tickets, hotel confirmation, treatment plan, medication list, GP clearance, dental records, contacts. Backup on phone and printed.

Reconfirm all bookings (flights, hotel, pickup)

Contact patient coordinator for final confirmations. They share day-by-day schedule via WhatsApp.

Stop ibuprofen 48 hours before travel

Mild bleeding risk. Paracetamol/Tylenol fine for unrelated pain.

Stock home for return

Ice packs for swelling. Soft-bristle toothbrush. Chlorhexidine mouthwash (we provide some, but UK/Canadian variants are also available locally). Soft-food groceries.

Inform your local Canadian dentist

Send them the date you're travelling. Provide our contact details so they're prepped for follow-up handover.

Pack your dental documents

All X-rays, CBCT (digital DICOM file on USB), Canadian quotes for comparison, GP clearance letter, list of medications and dosages.

Inform your employer

Patient coordinator can provide a medical-leave letter if your Canadian employer requires documentation.

Pack carry-on essentials

Passport, e-Visa printout, flight tickets, hotel booking, treatment plan, medication (in original boxes), phone + Indian Type-D/M adapter, basic toiletries, change of clothes (in case checked baggage delays).

Avoid alcohol pre-flight

Especially with conscious-sedation surgery scheduled within 48 hours of arrival.

Light meal before boarding

Easy on the stomach. Hydrate. Avoid heavy meals 2 hours before flight.

Compression socks for long-haul

Reduces DVT risk on 13-15 hour flight. Available at airports if you forget.

Confirm pickup details one final time

Patient coordinator on WhatsApp before boarding. Re-confirm driver name and vehicle plate.

Save key contacts on phone

Patient coordinator's WhatsApp, Dr. Sethi's emergency number, Canadian embassy in Delhi, your GP, and your local Canadian dentist. Always reachable.
